Description

Advances in material science, bunker engineering, and hardened logistics improve both stockpile security and fixed-defense durability. Each level of Defense Technology adds 5% attack and shield strength to your defenses, raises defense hull by 15%, and protects 5% of your daily production from raids.

Damage Order

  1. Shields absorb damage first
  2. Remaining damage hits hull
  3. Ship destroyed when hull reaches 0

Hull vs Shields

  • Shields regenerate between rounds
  • Hull damage is permanent (until repair)
  • Your bunkers and domes scale from Defense Technology

Strategy

Early Priority

Defense Technology requires Research Lab 2 and the section 2 unlock requirement:

  • Available very early
  • Cheap to research (metal only)
  • Strong early pickup if you rely on defenses or want safer stockpiles

Survivability

Higher Defense Technology means:

  • Defenses survive longer
  • Rocket launchers through domes hit harder
  • Raids leave more of your daily production untouched
  • Defensive investments scale better over time

Cost Efficiency

Defense Technology only costs metal:

  • Cheaper than Shielding (crystal heavy)
  • Good for metal-rich economies
  • Also protects part of your daily production from raids

Balance

Keep all combat techs progressing:

  • Defense Technology + Mobile Shield Technology = layered durability
  • Weapons = offense
  • Choose Defense Technology when you want stronger bunkers, not stronger ships
