Description

Superheated plasma can be magnetically contained and fired as devastating weapon projectiles. Plasma Turrets are the most powerful planetary defense structures.

Beyond weapons, plasma technology also optimizes mining and refining processes, providing a bonus to all resource production. The downside is slower building construction as plasma integration complicates fabrication workflows.

Resource Production Bonus

Each level of Plasma Technology increases production of all three resources:

Formula

Production Bonus = 10% × Plasma Level
Total Production = Base Production × (1 + Production Bonus)

Base Production already includes mine output, planet slot bonuses, temperature effects, economy speed, and energy production factor. Plasma then multiplies that final base value.

Example

At Plasma Technology level 10 with base production of:

  • Metal: 10,000/hour → 20,000/hour (+100%)
  • Crystal: 5,000/hour → 10,000/hour (+100%)
  • Deuterium: 2,500/hour → 5,000/hour (+100%)

This bonus applies to all mines and synthesizers on all planets.


Building Construction Penalty

Each level of Plasma Technology reduces building construction speed by 10%, increasing build times:

Formula

Construction Time = Base Time × (1 + 0.10 × Plasma Level)

This penalty applies to all building upgrades, including Robotics and Nanite factories.


Strategy

Late-Game Defense

Plasma Technology is a significant investment:

  • High research costs
  • Plasma Turrets are expensive
  • But incredibly powerful

Production Boost

The +10% production bonus per level makes Plasma Technology valuable even for non-combat players:

  • Level 10 = +100% to all resource production empire-wide
  • Stacks with position bonuses and other multipliers
  • Worth researching for economy alone

Construction Tradeoff

Each level also slows building upgrades by 10%, so plan longer queues and avoid starting key construction projects right before you need them.
